In the early 1990’s a contract with IMAX Corporation brought Severtson Corporation into the cinema screen industry. To meet the challenge of the larger screens, a robotic application system was designed that could be used to coat screens on site. In 1998 Severtson Corporation applied its optical coatings to the world’s largest cinema screen (103’ x 129’) in Sydney, Australia.
SAT-4K: Stellar Acoustically-Transparent is a revolutionary new woven material designed so that the entire sound stage can be placed directly behind the screen at the same horizontal axis, allowing the audio track to be in perfect sync with the brilliant images on display. The SAT-4K screen meets or exceeds all industry standards for optimum video and acoustic performance, with reference quality reproduction of the digital image combined with true fidelity to the soundtrack. SAT-4K material has virtually no size limitations -- it can now be used on small screens and exceptionally large screens. The titanium-grey shade on the TAT-4K preserves picture contrast even in rooms that are not completely dark, resulting in a crisp image that will amaze the viewers. TAT-4K material has virtually no size limitations -- it can now be used on small screens and exceptionally large screens. The seamless acoustic weave offered by TAT-4K is in high demand, especially for many commercial applications. The TAT-4K comes in heights ranging from 37" in an Impression Series home theater screen, to a massive 10'2" in a Pro-Frame or cinema screen.
Cinema White is over 30% brighter than Matte White. It is a unique fabric that offers a bright, uniform image with no color shift at any viewing angle. This surface is designed to provide a higher amount of brightness for lower output projector types. Its increased reflectivity will help enhance image brightness in situations where a low level of ambient light is present. Cinema White is washable with mild soap and water, flame retardant and mildew resistant.
